Eric's Story
Eric was playing baseball in his backyard when a line drive struck him in the head. He was immediately taken to Oishei Children's Hospital (OCH), where they discovered he had a fractured skull and performed emergency brain surgery. Today, Eric is back to himself thanks to the incredible doctors, nurses and staff at OCH.
"Throughout the month of September, he wasn't the same kid. After the accident, we didn't know if he was going to live. By the end of our stay at OCH, he was up and walking. He could talk and could eat on his own. Today, Eric basically has all of his functions back. We have been so lucky; we have been very blessed. We can't say enough good things about OCH. Eric was chosen to have a zoom interview with Josh Allen. A week before the interview, Eric wasn't even able to speak. He was really excited to speak to him. It was an amazing experience for him and for us.
Eric wouldn't be here today, without the people at OCH. From the neurosurgeons, the neurology team, the nurses on the 11th floor and the PICU, everyone is so professional, welcoming and caring."- Valerie, Eric's mom
"I never thought I would be able to meet Josh Allen. It was really cool. Josh made me feel really happy. We just chatted about football and it felt really good to talk to him. It was crazy how much OCH helped me. When I was at OCH, I couldn't even eat, I was being fed with a spoon. I wasn't able to talk. I just want to say thank you. They saved my life. I'm looking forward to playing sports again and hitting baseballs in my backyard."- Eric
