On Wednesday, December 13, Oishei Children’s Hospital hosted Fisher-Price/Mattel executives for their annual toy giveaway as they dressed as Santa Claus and his helpers to spread holiday cheer to pediatric patients and their families being cared for at the new hospital.
“The annual Fisher-Price/Mattel visit is one our patients look forward to every year. Our longtime partnership with Fisher Price has helped us foster the imagination and creativity of the kids and families in our care,” said Allegra C. Jaros, MBA, President at John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital.
Attendees gathered in the Kim & Pete Augustine Play Room filled with Fisher-Price/Mattel toys and games on the 11th floor of Oishei Children’s Hospital. Accompanied by Fisher-Price executives dressed as Santa Claus and his elves, Allegra Jaros, president at Oishei Children’s Hospital and Steve Sucher, head of brand product development at Fisher-Price/Mattel provided a brief history of the longstanding, 25-year partnership between the community’s children's hospital and the East Aurora, NY-based global toy manufacturer. Pediatric patients and their families joined the event, participating in arts and crafts in the 11th floor playroom with Fisher-Price/Mattel representatives, and received a gift from Santa Claus.
Santa and his helpers went room to room on various floors greeting patients and delivering toys, while festive holiday songs played in the background.
In 2013, Fisher-Price/Mattel donated $3 million for the creation of the Fisher-Price/Mattel Family & Child Support Services Floor on the 5th floor of Oishei Children’s Hospital. The family-centered care floor provides patients and their families with various respite spaces and services to promote a multi-disciplinary approach to healing including physical and emotional wellness and well-being.
