Oishei Children's Hospital offers women the best and safest option for delivering their baby as the only hospital in Western New York with teams of maternal-fetal medicine physicians, pediatric surgeons and a full panel of pediatric medical subspecialists on site, including the region’s largest and most advanced The Children's Guild Foundation Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). These services work in collaboration to care for both mom and baby, and are available 24/7 to respond to any urgent medical needs.
These teams of experts are the only in Western New York that offer this multidisciplinary approach to care for high risk pregnancies and babies. Together, they determine the best care plan, and are available to be present at birth to help ensure the baby has the very best outcome possible.
The 64-bed mostly private room The Children's Guild Foundation NICU admits more than 850 babies each year and has an average daily census of 50. Approximately one-third of admissions are transported from an outlying hospital by the active Neonatal Transport Team, readily available to provide stabilization and transport to Oishei Children's Hospital for any infant in the region.

The UBMD attending neonatologists work closely with other members of the healthcare team at Oishei Children's Hospital including physicians in training, neonatal nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, licensed respiratory therapists, family service counselors, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists and clinical pharmacists to provide the best possible care for infants.

Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital
Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital has opened a brand new state-of–the–art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) specializing in the care of ill or premature infants.
The NICU at Millard Suburban offers parents and newborns in the northtowns advanced neonatal care close to home. With experienced advanced care practitioners from the Regional Perinatal Center at Oishei Children's Hospital, increased access to pediatric subspecialists, highly experienced registered nurses and a compassionate multidisciplinary care team; newborns can receive critical care and remain in the same facility as their mom.
The 10 bed unit offers comfortable contemporary accommodations for newborns and parents. The single family room design provides a spacious private room so that parents can room in with their child. The goal of the private room is to reduce infant stress, manage environmental challenges and provide individualized care specific to each infant’s needs. It also assists families by allowing them to become part of the team caring for their newborn. Parent’s learn the baby’s cues and are able to bond with their child. Rooming in is highly recommended for all newborns and the single room design allows that to occur for premature and ill infants as well.
With parents encouraged to room in with their babies, a family bathroom and shower are also located on the unit and lockers are provided in each room.
A family waiting area on the NICU is equipped with a TV, computer and internet access, refrigerator, and microwave for your convenience.
This special care nursery provides care to infants weighing more than 3lbs, 5 oz and/or more than 32 weeks gestation who are moderately ill. Infants with more complex medical needs will be transferred to the level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Oishei Children's Hospital by the Neonatal Transport Team, which consists of neonatal nurse practitioners and specially trained neonatal respiratory therapists who are able provide stabilization and transport to Oishei Children's Hospital.
