What are the Family Advisory Council’s goals?
To promote Family Centered Care.
Partnership with families is the foundation of Patient and Family Centered Care. Patient and Family Centered Care is an approach to health care that recognizes that the family is the center of the patient’s lives, in and out of the hospital setting. Hospital staff and families work together in an environment of respect and support.
To help families.
The hospital can be a frightening place for patients and families. The Family Advisory Council works on projects in the hospital to bring a family and patient point of view of the planning and delivery of healthcare services at Oishei Children's Hospital.
Parents participate and collaborate in several staff orientations, committee meetings, and are or have been involved in video production, planning trainings, website development, and several other projects.
