Dr. Mark Nagy is a board-certified pediatric otolaryngologist who has been part of Oishei Children’s Hospital since 1997. He serves as an attending physician with the Department of Pediatric Otolaryngology and holds a faculty appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. In his dual role, Dr. Nagy is actively involved in the education and training of medical students and residents, providing instruction in both outpatient and surgical settings, as well as during daily patient rounds. His clinical interests include pediatric deep neck infections and vascular anomalies, and he has presented research on these topics at national meetings. In 1999, Dr. Nagy completed the first funded fellowship in Hemangiomas and Vascular Birthmarks at Arkansas Children’s Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. Milton Waner, a global leader in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular birthmarks. He also completed fellowships at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and the Royal Children’s Hospital in Australia. Dr. Nagy plays an active role in the broader medical community as a member of the department’s residency committee and as a board member of the Craniofacial Center at Oishei Children’s Hospital. A proud graduate of the University at Buffalo, he earned his bachelor’s and medical degrees with honors and completed his residency and internship in otolaryngology through the university. His commitment to pediatric care, academic medicine, and collaborative leadership continues to support the growth and excellence of the hospital’s ENT services.

Dr. Michele Carr is a clinical professor of otolaryngology at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and a pediatric otolaryngologist at Oishei Children’s Hospital. A dedicated educator, researcher, and clinician, Dr. Carr brings a multidisciplinary background in dentistry, surgery, public health, and medical education to her practice and teaching. She completed fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and holds both an MD and DDS from the University of Toronto, along with a PhD in education. Dr. Carr’s work spans a wide range of clinical and academic interests, including pediatric ENT, sleep medicine, health disparities, surgical education, and quality improvement. Her commitment to advancing care and education has earned her numerous national and institutional awards, including recognition for excellence in teaching, mentorship, research, and clinical innovation. She is a frequent contributor to academic conferences and publications, with a focus on improving outcomes in pediatric otolaryngology and advocating for equitable care. At Oishei Children’s Hospital, Dr. Carr serves on the Block and Scheduling Committee for the Department of Surgery and plays a key role in shaping the next generation of clinicians through mentorship and curriculum development. Her multifaceted approach to care and education continues to strengthen Oishei’s mission of providing high-quality, compassionate, and academically driven care to children and families across Western New York.

Dr. Michael P. Pizzuto is a pediatric otolaryngologist at Oishei Children’s Hospital and Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. With more than three decades of service, Dr. Pizzuto has been a cornerstone of pediatric ENT care in Western New York, bringing a deep commitment to clinical excellence, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration. A graduate of the University of Rochester with a degree in physics, Dr. Pizzuto earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical Center. He completed his internship and residency training in otorhinolaryngology at the University at Buffalo, followed by a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Since 1991, he has served as an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo, where he has also held key leadership roles, including Associate Director and Interim Director. Dr. Pizzuto currently directs the Center for Pediatric Otolaryngology and Communicative Disorders, including the General Mills Swallow and Speech Center, and serves as a consultant for the Craniofacial Center of Western New York. In his academic role, he has helped shape the next generation of physicians through his work as an educator and mentor, earning multiple teaching awards including Clinical Teacher of the Year and induction into the White Coat Society and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Pizzuto’s dedication to patient care, innovation, and education continues to support Oishei Children’s Hospital’s mission to provide compassionate, high-quality care to children and families across the region.
